Quick report
Found fun skiing conditions on and around Ptarmigan Ridge, particularly near Ptarmigan Perch/Video Peak. Observed moderate NNW winds at Artist Point, but as we skied across the south slope of Table Mtn and out the ridge, wind transport was subsequently dominated by upslope winds coming out of the Swift Creek drainage (i.e. southerlies). That said, we did note light NE winds at times as well. Plenty of evidence of wet avalanches on solar aspects from the last cycle, but nothing recent in that category. Observed what seemed to be one recent dry loose on a northern aspect near Ptarmigan Perch (see photo). Noteworthy wind affect near the ridge lines, including scouring to the uppermost crust in spots. Spotted some pillowy-looking windslabs on a NE aspect of Ptarmigan Perch (see photo) in tandem with actively blowing snow onto the slope. Further below ridgelines, northern slopes held good turns with a couple centimeters of rounded surface facets above a supportable and edgable crust. The same can’t be said for western aspects directly below Table, however, which presented a breakable crust littered with old roller balls, etc. that made for a heinous traverse and would have been unpleasant to ski had we ripped skins.
Avalanche
Saw a fairly recent dry loose on a shaded, northern aspect of Video Peak/Ptarmigan Perch. Given nearby ski tracks, it seems to be a skier-triggered slough that entrained enough of the loose upper facets to produce a proper fan.
