Quick report

Skied Gunn Peak over the weekend. We encountered a wide range of snow surface conditions. The forest was bare until approximately 3,700 ft, with continuous snow above 4,000 feet. The snow surface was generally wind affected and refrozen and firm, however it was quite variable, with thick breakable crust on top of sugar snow in places that shattered into dinner plate size pieces, with other places bulletproof wind crust. Southern aspects did soften up on both afternoons of the weekend, and we found decent corn skiing in a few spots on Sunday afternoon. Winds were generally mild, and despite my thermometer reading 16° overnight (camped at 5,400 ft) the temperatures felt for the most part quite mild.
