Group of three skied in the Swift Creek drainage. Approached terrain cautiously because of poor visibility, heavy snow and concerns about storm slab. Dug a pit and did column test on E facing slope, just below ridge in first band of trees. There was some wind affect and loading at our pit. Snow profile: -Total snowpack depth = 235cm -fist 235 to 180 -4f 180 to 170 -1f 170 to 140 -crust at 140 Column test -On 1 (wrist), collapse at 205cm -On 7 (wrist), collapse at 210cm -On 23 (shoulder), collapse at 180cm -Failures were resistant planars. We didn't see anything in the deep layer around the crust. The epic amount of wet storm snow made for better skiing than we expected but undeniably coastal pow. Our interpretation of the snowpit was that storm slabs from discrete snow events could slide. We had some small slabs form in the sluff from our skiing that aligned with that interpretation.
