Quick report
Did a few pre-work laps in the closed resort. No signs of instability when actually skinning or skiing, albeit on very mellow terrain and at low elevation (about 3000-3700). Did one hand pit just out of curiosity, and there was definitely a density change that failed about 10-12 cm down, but it was not at all clean or planar. Below that (probably about 25 cm but I didn't measure), the new snow didn't seem to want to move as a cohesive slab on top of the wet snow below, at least at this one particular spot. I talked to someone else who mentioned different results at the old/new snow interface, but I can't really speak to that myself.
