Quick report
Skied around Twin Lakes again today. Last week was more like "wow it's only November, this is great!", today was like "yep, it's still November :(". It must have rained since reports of good skiing on Saturday. It was pretty warm all day. Lots of snow melt and water around. Remnants of wet slabs in lots of gullies and running from rocky areas all around us. Sun/rain crust is prevalent at all elevations and was melting out depending on aspect and elevation. The crust was supportive in the shade, but awful and unsupportive skiing when we punched through the crust in sunnier/warmer areas. It wasn't much fun skinning or skiing. We dug a pit and found finger firm to fist firm consistent snow underneath a finger hard crust totaling about 90cm at 6000'. Crust was ~ 10cm in the pit but varied significantly. Overall - I'd wait to ski again until it snows again.
