Quick report
Traveled up the Alpental Valley to the bridge to the meadow. At 3400’ noted a .25” clear ice freezing rain crust on all surfaces including trees. Traveled then to Source Lake at 3700’, and noted same .25” clear ice crust. Crust was persisting even despite moderate rain at Source Lake. Crust sat atop 25cm off relatively cold old storm snow(which saw temps down to 18 degrees F parts week), with a poor bond between crust and old storm snow. Largest hazards were extremely dangerous skiing, and ice debris explosions out of trees overhead.
