While climbing there was a large collapse and/our avalanche sound on the more easterly aspects. Dug a pit on a north aspect, 30 degree slope, 8,800 ft. Failure at 13 cm (8 inches) on old snow surface, CT21Q3, did not propagate on ECT-NR. Great skiing up top. Ruined my skis on the way back to the car. Walk it out from the bench.
