Quick report

Exceptional powder and surprisingly stable snow! Toured from the Source/Snow divide, observing some early season hazards (rocks, creeks) on the descent to Snow Lake. Traversed Snow lake to ascend Wright vía the SE ridge. While the solstice crust was observed, descending NE aspect from notch above Gem lake was non-reactive, and skier triggered slabs on steep rollovers we’re manageable on the SE ski out.

Avalanche

Natural slab avalanche on the NE aspect of Wright Mountain, likely from a tree bomb. Two skier triggered D1.5 slabs on the SE aspect of Wright Mountain in treed areas above snow lake. Both slabs appeared to run on the solstice interface and were below convexities on more reactive steep slopes. Skiers were able to stay outside of the sluff and manage run out.
