Vary changing snow quality and stability on the North facing slopes of Jim Hill and Arrowhead mountains. Some isolated wind slabs were very deep (2 feet), and slided when we skinned up through them. Above 5000 ft, snow varied from heavy to light powder (about a feet), and while no avalanche were triggered), basket ball sized rollers were observed frequently and large patches of snow would glide with each turn. Snowpack quality varied from thin hard crust (1-2 inch) to thick crust (~ a foot) resting on soft weak layer up to 5000 ft, to heavy snow (4500-5500ft) and light powder (5500-6000ft).
