Quick report
I went up LJ for an afternoon prez lap today. 1" of new snow at the TH and 6" at 8,800'. I was able to start skinning near the old hippie compound. There were a few drifts of deeper snow near the summit ridge on the approach. Snow squalls were blowing in and out all afternoon, with some heavy snowfall between 4-5 pm. Moderate winds from the east on top. I got some small dry loose sloughs going in the steepest sections, but they were easy to manage and were predictable. The upper and lower gully skied like a mid-work-week daydream, but the middle had a bunch of refrozen wet debris covered in the new snow. The lower gully through the bush is the fattest I have ever seen it, and Bass creek is still skiing to the car, what a treat.
