Quick report
- Collapsing
- widespread
Observed widspread collapsing on W-N aspects above ~7100 ft. Didn't travel on S-E facing aspects so can't comment about over there. Upon digging, it appeared that the problematic layer is a layer of buried surface hoar at 50cm from the ground. Got a CT11 with a moderately planar shear, there were still clusters of surface hoar that didn't detach from the slab. There was ~ 6-8inches of new snow that was right side up & cohesive enough to pick up. Stuck to conservative slopes.

Saw small (~D1) avalanche on the bank of the highway when I was driving up Lost Trail Pass. Didn't look super filled in so I assume it happend later on in the last storm.
