Warm and wet. Rain/snow line at 6700' throughout the day. Little to no wind. Very light snowfall at upper elevation.
Snowpack
The snowpack at mid and lower elevations was warm and wet but has shrunk to the point where there is unlikely enough snow for an avalanche.
At upper elevations, the north aspects are dry from top to bottom. Of note, a new layer of surface hoar in areas not affected by the sun likely formed over some of the cold and clear nights this week and has been preserved under the new snow. Mid-pack facets are the primary layer of concern, with a stout 1-finger hard slab above them. The previous surface hoar layer causing trouble in the southern Bitterroot has been crushed flat under the heavy slab and will not be a major concern moving forward.
