Quick report

Collapsing
isolated

Clear day, only observed 1 recent avalanche from our day. 15-20 cm of new snow in during the cold spell. Cold temps, single digits with light W winds and minimal transport during the day. Evidence of prior wind loading from the WSW and NE. Skied the W slope we had dug on last week, found last weeks surface had become a thin MFCr with lower resistance snow below. In isolated areas, collapsing was occurring below MFCr. Other areas the crust wasn't supportive enough to collapse. No areas we travelled had a slab above to trigger. Still found crust/facet combo down 40cm from last week and suspect the rest of the structure hasn't changed significantly. Kept it mellow and enjoyed great turns. Ran into another party who opened er up on N terrain with no issues.

Avalanche

Observed a small Sz 1 Dry Loose avalanche on 45° N aspect at 7,900 ft. Didn't run full path, and didn't entrain more snow as it went down.
