Quick report
We toured up the usual skin track to the summit of Tamarack, and descended along a similar route, skiing N, NE, and E aspects up to 32 degrees. New snow was 12 cms at the trailhead and 15cms at 9800'. Weather changed rapidly throughout the day, with periods of overcast skies, short periods of intense graupel and snowfall, and brief periods of sunshine. Winds were light in this area throughout the morning. We did not observe any signs of wind transport, wind drifted snow, or wind textured surfaces. We jumped on several small test slopes, and these only a produced small dry loose problems on a 38 degree NE aspect rollover. New snow did appear to easily slide off the firm crust underneath on E aspects. We dug several quick test pits on a NE aspect at 9750' looking for wind slabs. Results were ECTN 15cms down at the new/old snow interface in all locations.
