Quick Observation
Coverage from TH is super solid, fast climbing to avy swaths below Hamilton lake. At this point things got a little schwacky, but things sped up once we got to the lake. Followed skin tracks up the lookers right to avoid the wet loose actively coming off carnarvon. We must’ve heard a dozen sluffs run by the time we got to the north col. Carnavon still has cornices that haven’t failed yet. Dry blower with great bonding at the top few turns, we skied to the left to get onto lower angle faces and enjoyed a mix of firm to crusty snow as we got to where the debris started piling up. As a snowboarder I managed to ski out the slide path walls and follow ski tracks that had flattened debris heated in the sun. My skier partner cut right high and early to ski a narrow line to trees. After that some climbing through the trees to avoid the next slides debris. Fast moving travel through the creek, but a few parts are looking like they will melt out soon. Skier partner was able to ski out to the lake without skinning. Creek water levels are still low enough to walk in the creek bed comfortably. Emerald lake thawing out rapidly at the edges but was still ok to cross as of today.
