Quick Observation

25cm recent storm snow made for good skiing treeline and below. Quick pit at treeline N aspect showed 160cm total snow. Found 2 crusts below the recent storm snow, first one down 60cm which was "sudden planar" in the hard range (22) in a compression test. The other was down 90cm, quite thin, and below that my probe just dropped to ground through the facets. Perhaps low probably, but with a big trigger (cornice)- high consequence I believe. Stayed away alpine slopes with overhead hazard and stuck to the trees.
