Fantastic few days in Shangri - La with some surprisingly good skiing in previously wind affected areas and endless great views.
Evidence of an avalanche cycle approximately 5 days ago. Multiple cornice triggered slab avalanches on East through North West aspects 2100-2500m up to size 2, mostly running on an old dirty slab with small pockets failing at ground or scrubbing down to the rocks. On the 18th we also recorded 1 x size 1.5 cornice triggered slab on a north west aspect off of Trowel Peak @ 2500m which happened overnight.
Test pit East aspect @ 2350m in wind loaded feature on Aberharts Nose. HS 200cms. Moderate results in compression tests down ~20cms and ECTN.
