Fresh snow and sustained moderate west winds created the recipe for windslab development in exposed TL and alpine features today

Snow conditions were: Wind affected. Weather conditions were: Stormy. We rode: Alpine slopes, Convex slopes, Mellow slopes, Open trees. Riding quality was good.

Snowpack

2 test profiles at 2050m S/SE aspect, 25 degree incline, snowpack over 3m deep. Easy results in the top 20 cm of low density snow showing propagation unlikely results. On the March 18 persistent crust layer down 50-60 cm we got variable results from Moderate RP to No result in compression tests and an Extended column test partial propagation on the 25th tap

Avalanche

Ski cut on lee loaded roll off the ridge to bruins pass. Was getting loaded with sustained moderate westerly winds today. Not a surprise, but energetic propagation. Healthy size 1.5 trending more towards a size 2.
