Quick report
It was a beautiful day out for the SAC motorized instructor team training day. We were out training and preparing for another great season of providing free motorized avalanche courses. We had mostly sunny skies with a high thin broken cloud layer in the afternoon. Temps were above freezing. Winds were light to moderate at the ridge tops with no snow transportation observed. We dug a snow pit on Mount Lola at 8700 ft on a NE aspect. The snow height was 153 cm. We found 5cm of new snow on top of a very right side up snowpack. No layers of concern at the moment. Crusts at 130 and 127 made for punchy riding conditions in untouched areas. Frozen old tracks, shallow snowpack and open creeks made for tricky riding conditions below 8500 ft. Overall, the snowpack was supportable , mostly 1F hard and was go anywhere kind of riding.
