Quick report
Firm snow from alpental starting at 7:30AM. Ascending Chair up to the Thumbtack was HOT with no breeze and the snow was rapidly warming with a crust easily breaking down. No instabilities noted on up track, though steep cliffs and faces were beginning to shed their recent dry snow/ice. N face of Chair had a crust over dry snow. Crust was ski supportable and skiing was decent, though it was slightly better where more sun affected when the crust was not as prominent. Not much dry snow, but a few soft slabs that were very small and did not show instability. All couloirs were filled with debris from the AR event. Obstacle course skiing, but not terrible. By noon on Snow Lake ski pen was 4cm. We encountered a snowshoer who fell through the ice into the lake. This hazard is early this year it seems. Skiing out was hot mush but at 1pm wet loose was not yet a problem.
Avalanche
Very large debris fields from recent AR event that have been well documented. Bryant and Chair both have shed incredible volumes on snow down to Source and Snow Lakes. The debris is well covered and okay to maneuver through, though the skiing is not terribly enjoyable. On steep N facing cliffs above Snow Lake we also saw large shed/glide avalanches with what appeared to be 3-4ft thick slabs cracking off and shedding. This hazard seems likely to continue with warm weather.
