Quick report
Our party of 3 toured up onto and around Alameda pk area today. We climbed the east ridge to a high point around 7600' and skied west through northernly aspects most of the day. The skiing was excellent quality top to bottom. 4 inches at the bottom of the drainage stacked up to 16 inches of dry loose on top of a stout crust. Steep southernly aspects were shedding wet loose avalanches as early as noon. We did not see any cracks on our up track and crampons were useful above the col where it was scoured by wind, Still the trail breaking was deep a few steps away from the crust. We watched lots of sluff slides today, triggered intentionally. It was manageable by ski cutting, watching it move down the slope slowly and not fanning out wide. The sluffs were more reactive on slopes closer to 35 degrees, below 35 degrees it did not sluff much, just skied great!
