Observations between 6000 to 6400 feet near and below ridgetop found 20 to 25 cm of recent snow, right side up and 4F hard, on top of a crust. Snow surface water content and crust thickness and hardnesses varied by aspect. 

South aspects had 1 to 2 cm of wet snow surfaces. On west and east aspects, about the top 1cm was wet with a trend to moist to dry in the top 20 cm. Wet snow surfaces could easily sluff on steep slopes but appeared to stay confined to the near surface snow and not entrain deeper into drier snow in the top 20 cm. Natural wet loose avalanches, surface roller balls, and test slope ski pressure showed a similar behavior confined within the top 5 cm or less surface snow. A very subtle storm interface was observed down 15 cm from the surface with consistent and right side up hand hardness. No formal or informal test results were observed on this interface nor on top of the first crust down 20 cm from the surface. Snowpack tests showed progressive compression results in the top 4 cm wet to moist surface snow and moderate force CT RP result down 23 from the surface and below a 3 cm thick P hard crust. 

On North aspects, the top 1 cm was moist with moist to dry snow below. A very thin decomposing crust (P hard, ~2mm thick) with faceted melt forms below was 25 cm down from the surface. The top 25 cm, mostly dry 4F hard, slab produced easy CT SC, ECTN results, and PST 32/100 END. Another crust (March 20 rain) was down 35 cm, being 15 cm thick and P to P- hard.
