Quick report
Went out to ski some trees in the Mirkwood area, slope angle 27-35 degrees, N aspect. Snow was very pleasant in the trees. Top layer of snow was unconsolidated powder, staying cool on north aspects in the trees. More sun exposed snow has started to form a crust today. We dug a pit at ~8750ft. Until about 9000 feet, the snowpack decreased uniformly in density from the ground to the surface, with a several inch layer of fist hard unconsolidated powder on top ~70cm of 4F hard snow. There was no older snowpack on the ground at this level. We saw several other ski tracks and parties out, with no signs of instability observed. Above 9000 feet, wind affect was more apparent on the snowpack. The first several inches were unconsolidated power, on top of a 1F hard layer about 10cm thick, which sat on top of a 4F layer ~20cm thick. We did not dig a pit here. None observed

Stayed quite cool in the shade, warmer in the sun, but only south or SE facing slopes appeared to be impacted by the warmth of the sun

N aspect, BTL, 8750ft. HS ~100cm No old snow on the ground. Uniformly decreased in density from ground to surface, ~20cm 1F hard, ~70cm 4F hard, ~10cm Fist hard.
