Ascending into Pinnacle Valley from Archangel, party of 3 noticed 1 whumpf and a shooting crack of about 7' radius on a stiff windslab. The stiff windslab was present from about 4500-4700' on a N-NE aspect below the N facing chutes of Pinnacle. Snow surface changed from slush below 3500'-ish at 12pm, to re-frozen slush 3500-4300', to a mix of soft wind slab, graupel, and hard windslab from 4300-4800', and about 2-8" of new dense powder from 4800-5400' in the chutes. Previously re-frozen surfaces below 3500' warmed back to slushy surfaces by 5pm.
