Recent Avalanches, Poor Snowpack Structure

Checked out the moguls on Tom's hill this morning. They were worse than expected so we spent some time digging pits instead. Dug two pits in a sheltered location at 8900ft NNE, 27 degrees slops angle. Snow pack depth was 70-75cm going from fist to 4 fingers. Then a crust at 35cm with factes above and below. Got CT25 and CT26 that failed on the facets above the 35cm crust. We were not able to get propagation on this layer in two ECTs. Think this would look different if there was a more solid slab on top
