Travelled from heather meadows to artists point, making a pass down by Bagley lake. Temperatures at heather meadows cooled from 37 in the morning to 34 in the afternoon. The snowpack on the lake was largely melted and travel across it was questionable. We observed approximately 1-2" of fresh dry powder on the surface of a very firm crust. As we ascended, we observed wind affected surfaces on various aspects that was easy to identify by the sound of whoomphing. Snow paired with up to 10 mph winds began at approximately 11:45 AM making visibility limited. Snow collected as much as an inch over an hour. Our main concern was the shallow snowpack and the firm, icy crust. It appeared that fresh snow had just barely covered up rocks and other obstacles that had been exposed from the melting surfaces. Fresh snow made it difficult to identify where those obstacles may be. We travelled cautiously to avoid buried obstacles. The only signs of instability were in minimally wind loaded areas.
