Quick report

We woke up early and climbed sun-exposed east-facing slopes on Tallac.  We found firm, supportable frozen snow that made for efficient ascending. East-facing upper elevation snow wasn't winter snow but hadn't quite made it to corn either. We saw small amounts of transitioning winter snow on steep north faces. We found the ripest corn at lower elevations on east-facing terrain between roughly 7200 - 6500' around 9:00am. Looking back into Desolation Wilderness we could see evidence of several previous large wet loose slides and generally good coverage. We exited avalanche terrain around 9:00am.
