Quick report

There is still a large amount of uncertainty with incoming weather patterns and how it will affect the snowpack in areas that have not slid yet. Glide cracks were observed on steeper slopes and against rock faces.

Avalanche

On Sunday, 01/28/24, there was a D2.5 avalanche that was unintentionally skier triggered. West aspect, stepped down to the Solstice Crust where Basal facets were observed at the crown profile. Today, 1/30/24, Stevens Pass Ski Patrol triggered multiple D2-D3 avalanches with explosives. Crown lines averaging 2-4 feet, stepping down to the Solstice crust and running the full length of slide paths. This seems to be a deep persistent slab problem that has become reactive after the recent rain events and added load to the snowpack
