The day started out beautiful with little wind. As the day progressed cloud cover increased and winds from the South began to increase. At ridgeline, the wind was blowing in the moderate category.
Snowpack
After experiencing the collapse, we dug down 100cm to identify the weak layer. 1' below the snow surface there was a stout crust with about 1" of weak snow and then another stout crust. The snow between the crusts was a mix of decomposing stellars and facets. We had plenty of action in our snowpack tests, with two full propagations on an Extended Column Test with moderate force.
Avalanche
No natural avalanches were observed.
