Quick report
-Had no signs of instability during our tour east of WMR. class poked around looking for signs of the PS problems and agreed with the trimming of the distribution at the mid-elevations from this morning's forecast. Still noted PS existence on Northerly aspects, however, wasn't reactive during instability tests. -Snow surface conditions were challenging. Sunshine was nice. We agreed high pressure system is ready to move on. No signs of instability on southerly slopes or northeasterly aspects that we checked out.

mostly clear skies above the inversion. Nice to be in the sunshine above the valley inversion. Light winds out of NE along ridgelines.
Snowpack
-SE aspects at 6350' melt freeze cycle has left a 4 cm crust on slopes receiving direct sunlight. non-propagating results on ECT along Jan 2 crust (down 36cm). Found right-side up snowpack that would have been ok to descend once sun had warmed and softened upper layers. -NE aspect at 6400': soft snow on shaded slopes at least at that elevation. Also had non-propagating results on two ECTs. However, informally pulling the block resulted in a clean shear 40 cm down on the top of the Jan 2 crust. FC were clearly visible on the surface of this crust.
