Toured out of Bridger the last few days. Yesterday, sluffs were starting to run further and were larger in size than the previous days. I observed cracking in between switchbacks in non wind affected areas, within the cold snow. Today, in a nw facing gully, I triggered several wind slabs on ski cuts and while skiing. Some propagated around 30 ft, and were about 6”-1’ deep. The debris pile was almost deep enough to bury a person. These slabs seemed to be composed of the small amounts of new snow received over the last few days and were sliding on the old, heavy snow that fell late last week and had turned to wind board in this wind affected gully. The winds were ripping all day with lots of snow moving over the ridge in unprotected areas. South facing slopes had a hard crust under the new snow. On an east facing slope we observed loose sluffs (running pretty far, but not all the way to the runouts) and isolated wind slabs near the ridge, with good skiing in the trees.
