Quick report

Collapsing
isolated

We toured up $1000 run to April Bowl. Heard a whumph on S side of ridge between Hatch weather station and Hatch Peak, but couldn’t see if anything remotely triggered below the rollover in Valley of Sin. Snow became noticeably drier above 4000’. Dug a pit below the ridge on $1000 run, N aspect, 4500’ = ECTX. Snow is deep! Took a 6’ pit to get down to facets. Shovel pull failed about 8” & 24” down, and at full depth on storm/facet interface. Didn’t investigate mid-storm weak layers

Avalanche

- Observed two new natural D1.5-2 slab avalanches this afternoon (Sat 4/25) from S side of Skyscraper crossing the snowmachine tracks near the summer road (sorry no photos). - Observed three new natural D2 slab avalanches this afternoon (Sat 4/25) on W side of Marmot (see photo). - Older (~2 days old?) natural D2 slide on N side of ridge between $1000 and powder pimple. It ran pretty far, jumped the 1st creek, crossed the normal skin track and crested over into the next creek drainage (see photo). - Older (~2 days old?) natural D2 on NW aspect in April bowl to skier’s right of main run down the gut.
