Quick report

Cracking
specific

Toured up to source lake, then to SLD, then to the bottom of chair peak basin, not quite to the thumbtack. Skied the slopes above SLD (amazing) down the SLD apron to the out track. - - - no red flags. Cracking in usual suspect locations like kick turn switch backs, and spots where storm slabs were more cohesive such as cross slope convexities and ridge like features. Once above SLD, crusts other than NYE crust seemed to have dissapated and snow felt bottom less. Moments of good vis. between valley fog and cloud deck. - - - Saw only one small (D1) crown near the runout of Bryant peak couloir. Snowing all day and thru out, a brief break around 9 then increasing intensity. Mild to no winds. Pretty warm, around freezing. - - - Our impression was that other than subtle interstorm layers and small spots of storm-slab like snow, the snowpack was giving us more signs of stability than instability. - - - We saw folks skiing no fog bowl and big trees who appeared to be teeing off and having fun. Some of the best skiing so far this season. - - - out track is officially out of early season "sporty" condition, and almost all the creeks above source lake are filled in. Still some holes near source lake / bottom of no fog to watch out for.
