Our WAC Avy 2 class dug a pit and skied two laps on the South Bowl approach ridge. We dug a pit around 13:30, 7800 ft elevation, NE aspect, low 20s slope angle. The slope was definitely wind loaded and we observed moderate SW winds and light transport. Height of snow (total depth) was ~3 meters, with 6 inches of new snow on top of the Sunday/Monday crust. We conducted a compression test and extended column test, neither fractured (CTN and ECTX). When we skied we observed a thin "wind skin" which was much more pronounced on the second run on a slightly more north-facing slope. There were more significant wind slabs and obvious cornices on other parts of the slope which we avoided.
