Quick report
Many, many, many tree bombs today, consistent with the warming trend. Snow was very heavy and wet, although less wet above 5000'. Ski conditions were very poor. No signs of a weak layer (no shooting cracks, whumpfs, etc.) and overall fairly limited cohesion in the new, wet snow in hand shears. We skied a mixture of glades and open terrain in the Avy Swath, taking care to avoid steep, rocky start zones and their run-outs. We opted to ski glades where possible as tree bombs were easier to ski than the heavy new snow.
Avalanche
Numerous D1-D1.5 natural wet loose avalanches that ran overnight or in the early morning on all elevation bands and aspects (observed up to ~5600', mainly S and W aspects). All started in steep, rocky terrain. Two small (D0.5) slab avalanches were triggered by loose releases from cliffs above at 5600' on a S aspect.
