Toured up Red lake peak starting from the sno park at the top of the pass starting at 10am. 4-6” of new snow at 8000 with up to 8” around 9500 on N facing windloaded slopes. Traveled across all aspects. NE-NW snow was dense on top and softer below with about a 3”wind slab that was reactive to ski cuts. Didn’t dig a pit but would guess 3f on top of fist hard snow. South facing terrain was extremely heavy and wet. The old snow is still frozen beneath and the new snow isn’t bonding to it yet. Loose dry avalanches observed towards elephants back and Roundtop crescent moon couloir. Looking into Meiss meadow there were cornices that went naturally with the new snow load. While present there was minimal soft snow available for wind transport.
Avalanche
Several loose dry slides above 8000 on north facing aspects. No definitive crowns observed.
