Quick report
We went to Incline Peak to look for soft snow on shaded northerly aspects today. Recent cold temperatures have increased the near surface faceting process on sheltered and shaded terrain throughout this area. Our last trip here on this past Wednesday had warmer snow surface conditions with moist and sticky snow below around 9200'. Much colder surface snow existed today with improved travel. Variable conditions continue to be found in many areas with wind scoured and very firm frozen surfaces. Finding shaded slopes that have been mostly protected from recent winds and have limited previous tracks provided the best snow conditions today. We also encountered some soft spring snow on SE aspects during the late morning, even though temperatures remained near freezing with some wind and cloud cover present.

Partly cloudy skies over the Mt. Rose area with more dense cloud cover observed towards south Lake Tahoe. Cold morning temperatures at the trailhead with a solid overnight refreeze. Winds were from the SW/W and increased in speed in the early afternoon.
