Quick report

Surface snow was quite firm, however wet snow did exist on sunny slopes. Sun cupping seems to be throughout the region. We dug a pit on a NE slope near 7800’ 170cm of total snow, with the top 20cm a melt freeze crust that was knife hard. Above fist hard wet snow, then two crusts below that an again fist hard snow below the lower crust. We had two sudden results on CT tests on the fist hard layer under the lower crust. However no propagation on ECT. Winds were not as strong as expected, grapuel fell randomly throughout the day, and there were moments of sun in the mix. As we rode back to the truck the clouds were increasing along with some snow showers. It’s going to take another large storm to revive decent conditions, or warm temps and sun to soften the snowpack and might be a very long spring.
