Quick report
We ascended Red Lake Peak from Carson Pass at 9am and skied a short run north east down to the bench above Crater Lake. The snow near the ridge was wind affected but we found some good pockets for smooth turns. We ascended back towards the ridge for another run down towards Crater Lake and back to our second car down at the base of Crater Lake Road. We decided instead to ski the East Face of Red Lake Peak at about 11:15. Temperatures were cool on the ridge with a slight breeze. As soon as we started to descend we noticed warm temps and roller balls. The temperature was probably 45 degrees. We skied one at a time. The first 2 skied down and out of the path through heavy snow. The third skier triggered a wet loose avalanche above her and skied out of the path. The fourth skier triggered another smaller wet loose that also broke above him. The first slide was a D2, and ran about 500 ft, and both slides were moving at slow speeds.
