Mostly broken skies with periods of moderate snowfall. Temperatures stayed in the upper 20s and barely broke 32 by afternoon. Primarily light wind with short periods of moderate SW wind associated with snowfall.

Snowpack

We dug two pits in north facing terrain to look for lingering persistent weak layers but did not find any issues. There is 2-3 inches of new snow that fell overnight with minimal wind. Below this, there is 6-8 inches of moderate density snow that looks to be slightly wind affected.
Deeper in the snowpack all layers are rounded or rounding. Buried near surface facets are strong and bonded well to the new snow.

South aspects have a thin breakable crust just under the new overnight snow.

In the afternoon it only took about 20 minutes of sun to start rollerballs on south facing terrain but the sun never stayed out long enough to progress it to wet loose avalanches.

Avalanche

One D1.5 natural soft slab on south facing terrain of Saddle Mountain. Potentially triggered by cross loading in the gully where it failed.
