Toured up to Tioga Pass and experienced multiple large slope collapses on NE-N-NW aspects. Didn’t dig a pit, but it was easy to feel the facets at the bottom of the snowpack by probing. 80-120cm of snow in sheltered trees around 10,000’, but above treeline terrain was heavily wind scoured and much of the snowpack in alpine terrain around Mt. Dana appears to still be firm icy-snow from 22-23 season. Upper reaches of Glacier Canyon is mostly just talus still and the same goes for Dana Plateau.
Avalanche
Observed a natural persistent slab avalanche the ran naturally on an E aspect just above Tioga Pass road. Around 9600’. Likely occurred on 1/19. Clouds made it hard to see other areas deeper in the range.
