Mt. Glory - NE Ridge

2-3 inches of new snow as of 2pm. Snow totals thus far seem to be on the low end of forecasted amounts. Moderate to strong wind out of the southwest. We observed new drifts 4-6 inches deep on leeward features. These small wind slabs were not very reactive to ski cuts in steeper terrain, although some isolated cracking was observed. Overall, just not enough new snow to see much of an increase in avalanche hazard this morning/early afternoon.

The several inches of new snow is mostly made up of graupel. Stout, supportable crusts exist below the new snow on most solar slopes. Old snow surfaces in north facing terrain above 9,000’ varied from firmer wind board to fist soft ~1mm facets in protected areas. Weak, faceted snow can still be found preserved in these locations despite the warm temperatures over the past several days.
