Quick report

Cracking
widespread

at 0915 while ascending south gully in huntington we witnessed a dry loose point release from the choke. winds were light and steady yet increasing. snow was drifting off buttresses and the ice bulge with in the choke causing a point release. up until this point no instability’s we’re turning us around except skin track failures from poor bonding of 3-5” of new light precip on yesterdays firm but edge-able wind board. afterwards while skinning up to tuckerman I noticed the winds had increased and the snow was more consolidated. shooting cracks present on test slopes along the way to connection cache. with a plan to ski between right and lobster claw having the protection of the buttresses. at 1200 i witnessed a skier get caught, carried and partially buried from a wind slab that naturally released above the party while they were ascending right gully. given this red flag i did not feel comfortable approaching the debris to measure or document in any way as this was not my plan to be below an avalanche path. once we made sure both skiers were okay, we transitioned to ski down and got out of the ravine.
