Surprise

Surprise Weather Station: 8" on the board, 1.2" SWE. Last cleared 3/4. HS 105"

No signs of instability, although plenty of snow is blowing around up high.

Recent snow is pretty glued onto old surfaces up to 9500 feet. Warm temperatures and wind have helped with that. 48 hr snow depths range from a couple of inches at low elevation to about 10-12 inches at 9500 feet.  This recent snow has settled, is wind-pressed, and is a little upside down, with a stiff wind skin/crust in exposed areas. Moist, sticky snow below 8k.

The snow forecast has not panned out, and as of 1 pm, it was still not snowing below 10k. 

No wind slab development in the middle elevations where I travelled, and only 6" (stiff) slabs along the ridge below the Pinnacle (above 9k feet). These small slabs were stubborn, and I did not observe any shooting cracks where I was. Snow was not reactive on small test slopes.

I did not travel above 9500 feet or spend much time in very exposed areas where I suspect wind slab development might be a little more advanced. Northerly slopes above 9,000 feet hold colder and drier snow, but very minimal sluffing on steep rolls where I travelled.
