Quick report

There was about a foot of new snow over a firm base on Powderhouse today. Snow totals increased towards the top and signs of wind slab were apparent in the near and above treeline terrain along the ridge. I got shooting cracks up to about 10' in response to ski cuts but didn't produce slides on the test slopes I explored. Below tree line the new snow was high quality and just enough to mostly avoid hitting the old firm base below. Cloud cover varied throughout the day, with times of partial blue sky and other times when it was completely cloudy. The snow on the north-facing terrain of Powderhouse did not change much throughout the day, but upon my departure, Hwy 89 was clear of snow as the March sun melted it.

Cloud cover was between broken and overcast throughout my time on Powderhouse. Wind loading was moderate at the ridge but quickly dissipated as one moved lower on the slope and away from the rige.
