Cracking on a short steep convexity, broke 7" down - denser snow on top of drier softer snow

Calm Winds. No snow available for transport with wet/moist snow surface, warm temps near 32F, Light intermittent snowfall above 5500'

Snowpack

Found cracking in recent storm snow in one isolated test slope, recent heavier weter snow near surface than expected today.

Near and below 5000' top 3" of snow is wet with thin melt freeze crust down 3"

Snowpack heights at 6000' are 4 - 6 feet deep.

About 5" of new snow in last 3 days.  Heavier denser snow sitting ontop of softer:  Fist + hardness over Fist soft snow 

Test Results - 2 different pits, NW and E aspects 6000' :   ECTN's and CT Q2/Resistant Planar results in all top 2 ft of storm snow layers. 

December rain Crusts down around 3 ft -  crusts are breaking down with small facets above and below crusts.
