Sixmile

Pourring rain and low-elevation guanch turned us back at ~5000'. 

• The current rain/snow line was 4500', although signs of recent rain were apparent up to 5000' and probably higher.
• Above this we found 4 inches of wet snow on top of a rain-weakened crust. 
• Track penetration was to the ground (or in some cases INTO the ground) even on the well-beaten path. 
• A long section of sixmile road has melted out: we got to ride in the rain AND on dirt. 
• We were soaked through when we turned around.

We were the second field team in the last two days to get shut down by low-elevation rain and poor travel.  Although temperatures are forecasted to cool and rain is less likely, you might consider utilizing roads and trails to get you above 5500'.
