Observation: Little Bear

Today we noticed a lot of cracks and fracturing snow pack on small low angle slopes in the sinks area and little bear trail. Observed a few small avalanches including the one pictured. The layers were quite interesting as the heavy new snow from Saturday Night/Sunday morning would fail on top of the snow from Friday/Saturday. The old faceted snow layer was buried beneath the F/S snow (at the very bottom of picture). Wind from the South/Southwest most of the day, occasional sleet and graupel, precipitation turned to steady rain around 4pm.
