Jackson Hole Mountain Resort

One of the more reactive avalanche mitigation days in years. Remote triggers to four feet. In addition to frequent upper mountain avalanche paths lower mountain paths in closed areas were very active with 2-3 foot slabs moving to explosive triggers or intitiating remotely on approach. This was not a thorough run of closed areas and "poachers" initiated 2 different r2/d2 slides on the Lower Faces.  These slides were not reported took resources such as avalanche dogs to clear.  Avalanche Danger is HIGH in the Backcountry and in the closed areas at JHMR. People need to obey the signs and not think that closed terrain in the ski area or heavily trafficked backcountry areas are safe. People venturing out through gates found very unstable conditions and widespread activity as well. The paths in Rock Springs called I Like It, Dont Like It was the most significant. In that event a skier was carried into trees and not buried. Activity through mitigation and observed activity outside the resort can be found here or here.
