Quick report

Started around noon at white river canyon snopark. Sky was overcast and at times obscured when it was snowing. Temps were 36f at the parking lot which I thought was warm compared to yesterday. Plan was to find low angle terrain mostly but consider riding some avalanche terrain. Kind of a slog in, some slopes looked fun but had note worthy terrain traps which made my climb stay in the drainage then up the moraine to just below Middle Mimie Falls. At about 5400’ as the moraine is less sheltered, the snow shifted from a soft storm slab to seeing a more wind affected snow surface. There were moderate gusty SW winds at that time. There appeared to be 1” or more of wind slab thought to be recent above a decent amount of soft snow. It was consistently snowing at that altitude. Coming back down snow seemed to be more wet, there was a small test slope that I couldn’t get to slide but was able to get some roller balls loose. See photo.
